Kuvaus

This is a 'workshop' type course, i.e. it is classroom-based. It is primarily intended for post-graduate students; typically doctoral and post-doc researchers who are entering upon the 'conference circuit'. There is no one criterion for what constitutes a good presentation, unless it is simply 'practice makes perfect'. That is the underlying concept behind this course. The course offers intending presenters a chance to practice their own presentation skills by taking part in a 'mock' conference, for which they have to produce and deliver a presentation on a research topic of their own choice. During the preliminary classroom sessions the participants will consider what they think are the main elements of a good presentation, e.g. its basic structure, interaction with the audience, slides and visual aids, etc. During the final two sessions, each course participant will give their own presentation which will be videoed. The final element of the course is a feedback session (1-1 or small group) during which they can discuss and reflect on the videoed presentation.
