Kuvaus

Sparse Representations and Compressive Sensing for Imaging and Vision The focus of the course is to study novel directions in computational imaging, namely, sparse representations and compressive sensing. Special emphasis is placed on novel, innovative, and unusual imaging systems, such as the one-pixel camera, coded-aperture imaging, thin cameras, flutter shutter, compressive terahertz imaging, first-photon imaging (a comprehensive and up-to-date list is found at https://sites.google.com/site/igorcarron2/compressedsensinghardware). Each student has to present a selected topic from the course material, and chair a discussion session. The course loosely follows the book "Sparse Representations and Compressive Sensing for Imaging and Vision", V.Patel, R.Chellappa, Springer 2013, and complements it with recent research articles.

Lisätietoja toteutuksesta

Before each meeting, all participating students will read the new study material (e.g., an article or a chapter of the book), prepare a short summary about it (approximately 250 - 500 words) and send the summary to the instructor before the meeting by email (no attachment please; just plain text). The students will also prepare at least one question/comment and send that to the instructor prior to the meeting by email (for example, was there something that you did not understand, or would you like to share some idea related to the material). Each meeting is divided into two sessions. First, a designated speaker will give an introductory presentation to the chapter (30-40 minutes). Then, we will discuss about the questions/comments. A chair-person will be named for each meeting to lead the discussion. After the meeting students are expected to prepare a learning diary and send that by email to the instructor (before the next meeting please).
