Learning Outcomes
The aim of this course is to prepare TUT graduate students in their second year of an international MSc. program for the writing of a thesis. Students will become more familiar with the institutional and departmental expectations and guidelines for writing a thesis. In particular, students will learn to paraphrase, summarize and cite appropriate sources in their theses. Moreover, they will learn to organise sections of their theses according to the conventions of their fields, especially the introduction and abstract. Finally, students will acquire an understanding of appropriate academic style and principles for writing readable text in English. This course contains many of the same elements of KIE-34106 but is targeted directly at the thesis rather than essay writing.
