The course is completed by passing the assignments and the exam.

Learning Outcomes

After the course, the students will be able to describe and compare different analytical and numerical methods for modeling the electromagnetic and thermal behavior of electrical machines. They can explain how the operation point and the electromagnetic power losses of an electrical machine can be derived from a magnetic field solution. They understand the magnetic properties of the iron core materials and permanent magnets used in electrical machines. They are also able to describe the phenomena occurring in the cores and windings of magnetic components in power electronic applications.
