*** If you are interested to do a personal/small group assignment (literature study or small study project to be carried out individually or in small group), please contact a professor or senior teacher of the field of your interest *** *** This course implementation page is for Practical Digital Communication System Design using LabVIEW *** * Introduction: Digital communication plays an important role in our daily lives and understanding of this has become important for electrical engineers and scientists. The current generation of wireless communication and most of the past systems use some form of digital modulation methods. Understanding them and the ability to perform basic design and simulation with these systems are skills that will be handy and useful. In the current research on wireless standards, especially the 5G system development, National Instruments LabVIEW software and a software defined radio (SDR) hardware platforms called USRP are widely used for development and demonstration purposes. The same tools are widely used also in various other areas of signal processing and control systems. Understanding these tools would enhance the students capabilities in todays research and working environments. * Aim: To provide students with practical capabilities to utilize the LabVIEW/USRP platform for testing and demonstrating digital communication and signal processing techniques in real time. * Background requirements: Basic understanding of signals, systems, and digital signal processing. * Timing: First meeting on Tuesday 7.2. at 16:15 in TC331; weekly mmeeting times to be agreed in the first meeting.Sign-up continued until 7.2.2017.
