Independent work on exercise project, attending weekly studio meetings and critique sessions. Attending lectures in English and completing an exam in connection to the lectures. |
Osaamistavoitteet
After completing the course student can solve the public building of one rather difficult main function, or multiple smaller functions. The student knows the principles of the spatial and functional design of the public building and identifies the factors of which the planning process consists. The student can apply the principles of solutions in own planning work. The student has developed own view and planning readiness in architectural design and functional demands.

| 1. | The aim of the course is to provide students with the ability to design public buildings. The exercise is to design a public building located in a challenging environment, such as built environment. Total volume is usually about 3000 to 3500 square meters. | ||
| 2. | Studying the spatial design and typologies of a public building. Deepening of the planning readiness acquired earlier. Training to the dimensions of spaces and adapting of the regulations concerning the planning of the public building in planning task. Solving of a rather difficult planning task in a way which satisfies architecturally, functionally and concerning the cityscape. | Progression of the personal planning view. Ohjeita opiskelijalle osaamisen tasojen saavuttamiseksi
The exercise is estimated on scale 1-5. The sectors of the evaluation are among others: -architectonic main idea -relation with the surrounding environment -functionality -spatial qualities The exercises are evaluated in common critic sessions which belong to the study attainment. Participation activity also affects the grade of the course.
