DEE-33036 Electric Drives, 5 cr

Additional information

The course gives the basic knowledge on motor drives. After the course, the students are able to choose the motor and converter with correct size to the defined application. Students know, how the torque curves of the most typical loads look like and they know the effect of the torque curve to the choose of suitable drive. The students are able to calculate the required drive size both for continuous and for periodic, variable loading conditions according to maximum load and temperature. The students know the required protection functions required with the drives.
The students know the basic structure and operation principle of DC machine, synchronous machine and induction machine. The students understand the basics about the control methods of the electric drives, especially scalar (U/f, Volts/Hz) control method.
