Sourcing and supply management, 2 cr. The course aims at familiarizing students with the general area of sourcing and supply management. The course content also provides understanding of selected contemporary topics, such as value creation in sourcing and supply management, and sourcing business services. After participating in this course the students (1) understand the significance and basic contents of the area of sourcing and supply management, (2) know the most important approaches and models to use in sourcing and supply management of different types of goods and services in different industries, and (3) can identify the specific characteristics of contemporary challenges in sourcing and supply management. The course concists of weekly lectures during the first period of the study year 2017-2018 and the studying the following two books for the exam: Arjan J. van Weele, Purchasing and Supply Chain Management, Thomson, 5th ed. (2009), and Jussi Heikkilä, Mervi Vuori and Jari Laine, Purchasing Business Services, The Federation of Finnish Technology Industries (2013).
