Learning Outcomes

The student learns different aspects (terms, theory, basic working principles of devices, and applications) of the semiconductor technology related to the contents of the course and is able to apply this knowledge to the extent that is required in the examination.

Content

1. The basic properties and fabrication technologies of semiconductor materials (Si, GaAs)     
2. Energy bands of electrons in semiconductors. Charge carriers in semiconductors. Charge carrier lifetime, recombination, balance, diffusion and photoconductivity     
3. Semiconductor junctions and phenomena taking place at the junctions.      
4. Optoelectronic components: photodiode, LED, semiconductor laser, solar cell
