Learning Outcomes

After completing the course, * student is able to explain features of common antenna types and reason their differences. * student is able to explain principles of radiation from common antenna types. * student is able to design wideband/multiband antennas. * student can apply numerical simulation tools to common antenna design problems and has experience is interpreting their results. * student has experience in constructing antenna type(s) and in use of measurement results in evaluating properties of the constructed antenna(s). * student is able to find information from relevant literature and create a scientific report describing his/her work.

5. Antenna arrays. Array factor, beam steering, mutual coupling in arrays. Numerical simulations of antenna arrays.   Antenna synthesis   MIMO--systems 
6. Numerical design methods and tools. Construction of antennas (e.g. wideband antennas). Basic antenna measurements. Reporting and interpreting measurement and simulation results.   Basics of simulation algorithms, e.g. method of moments algorithm.   
7. Bodyworn antennas, effect of nearby objects on antenna performance. New antenna materials (e.g. textiles)     Metamaterials Millimeter-Wave antennas
