Learning outcomes of the course: After the course, the student can
- explain the basic terms in the domain of user interface design and evaluation
- give examples and compare about different types of user interfaces, interaction types and interaction models
- understand the fundamental rules of visual design (typography, icons, colours)
- apply usability heuristics and design guidelines to user interface design and evaluation
- construct a plan and a prototype for the graphical user interface in collaboration with group
- explain the design rationale based on user requirements

Suoritusvaatimukset

Electronic exam (first exam will be open 1.12-21.12.2018), group assignment and mandatory attendance in half of the lectures and weekly exercises. Mandatory attendance at two of the four lectures. Mandatory attendance at three of the six weekly exercises. Returning a pre-task is required to get the 'attendance' from weekly exercises.

-Lectures are recorded and the videos can be accessed through Moodle.
-Enroll only in one of the weekly-exercise groups. Replacing a missed exercise can be done in another weekly group if space permits, but those who have enrolled there have the priority over seats.
-Returning pre-tasks for weekly-exercises are done in Moodle (digital format) or in the classroom (on paper). It is possible to attend the weekly exercise without returning the pre-task, but such cases will not be counted as one of the three mandatory attendances.
-Teams for the mandatory group assignment should be formed between people coming to the same weekly-exercise. This is to ensure collaboration and information exchange within the team, which are known to be crucial for a successful design project.
