ELT-47426 Transmission Lines and Waveguides, 5 cr
Lisätiedot
Transmission line analysis can be understood as an extension to the elementary circuit analysis or as a special case of the waveguide analysis. The course focuses on the latter and aims to build understanding that is needed to analyze properties of waveguides and cavities (TE- and TM-modes) in addition to transmission lines (quasi-TEM mode). Such knowledge is needed, for example, in many applications in RF engineering: directional couplers, waveguide filters, microstrip antennas, and dielectric resonator antennas.
The course begins with review of TEM waves and continues with analysis of static electric and magnetic 2D problems that are encountered in defining the transmission line parameters. Simulation tools and laboratory work supplements the analytical work.
