Osaamistavoitteet
After the course, the student is able to - name and analyse the effects of scaling in microfluidics - name the most important applications of microfluidics - name the strengths and limitations of microfluidics - explain function principles of the following microfluidic components: micropumps, microvalves, micromixers - name the most important fabrication principles used for manufacturing microfluidic structures and name their strengths, weaknesses and main areas of use - explain the operation principles of polymer microfabrication principles - explain and analyze the main principles of liquid plug flows - fabricate microfluidic structures using PDMS - model microfluidic structures using finite element modeling approach - apply Comsol Multiphysics in modelling and simulation of microfluidic problems - write scintific reports on experiments and results gained - act as a member of a project team and take into account the diversity of actors in international operating environments - be capable of international and intercultural communication and team work - have an ability to accept and utilize justified criticism - see alternative solutions and has had an opportunity to apply creative thinking in solving microfuidic problems
