Osaamistavoitteet
After taking this course, the student is also able to describe the various nonlinear phenomena associated with the propagation of ultra-short pulses in optical waveguides and fibers in the presence of dispersion. The student can identify the different regimes of propagation and evaluate the effects of nonlinear refractive index using both simple models and more advanced numerical simulations. The student has also knowledge of ultra-fast measurement techniques and applications of nonlinear ultrafast dynamics.

Homework (40%) and final examination (60%). Full homework points alone will give a passing grade (1). About half of the homework points and excellent performance in the exam will give the highest grade (5).
