Osaamistavoitteet
After taking this course, the student understands the key concepts for thick optical systems and how they differ from thin lenses. He is able to analyze such systems paraxially using ray tracing and ABCD matrices. He also understands the basics of monochromatic and chromatic aberrations and their effects on imaging systems. In addition, the student becomes familiar with Gaussian laser beams and how their propagation through optical systems can also be treated by ABCD matrices.
