Learning Outcomes

- - After completing this module, the student has abilities to identify the main material parameters for polymeric materials, their composites, and cellulose-based materials like paperboard.
- - S/he has advanced laboratory skills to test and analyse polymer materials, and to design experiments for polymeric materials of a practical problem, or for a new material.
- - S/he has in-depth knowledge and understanding of mechanical design, adhesion phenomena, polymerization, and continuum mechanics formulation underlying the polymeric materials specialization.
- - S/he has the ability to develop new polymer or cellulose-based material systems and related processes with specifications that require integration of knowledge from different fields that provide e.g. technical, food packaging, health and safety, environmental, economic and industrial constraints.
- After graduation, students will be able to communicate clearly and unambiguously information and data to experts on various professional levels. S/he can function effectively in national and international contexts, as a member or leader of a team that may be composed of different disciplines and levels. They have critical awareness of the wide multidisciplinary context of polymeric engineering materials, as well as economic and risk management issues of polymeric and paper materials applications. The module offers a versatile learning toolbox to be able to conceptualize polymeric materials in terms of the blending, reinforcement, and isotropy for product development and research work.
