Osaamistavoitteet
After the passing of the course the student has a comprehensive picture of abstract structure of quantum mechanics, including the notion of Hilbert space of quantum states, operators and different formulations of time-evolution (Schrödinger, Heisenberg and Dirac pictures). The course refines the understanding of angular momentum and spin, conservation laws and symmetries in quantum mechanics. A student knows how to apply approximate methods, such as stationary and time-independent perturbation theory, to solve a variety of problems regarding bound states, emission and absorption and scattering. A student has a basic notion of how quantum mechanics of many bosons and fermions are formulated and applied to simple problems.
