Objectives
After passing this course a student have knowledge of compression methods for digital transmission and storage of video.

1. Compression methods for digital transmission and storage of video. The functional blocks of a modern video compression system with emphasis on signal processing aspects.       
2. Application of video compression algorithms in International standards (e.g. MPEG-4, H.263, H.264) and in practical video applications (digital TV, video phone, internet video).       

Requirements for completing the course
Exam and a project work. The project work has to be completed before attending the exam.

Assessment criteria
The course grade is based on the exam answers. Very good grade is obtained when exam questions are correctly answered and a project work is accepted. Threshold for passing the exam is at least half of the maximum exam points.
