Course objectives
The course gives a thorough treatment of the computer architecture techniques. Unfamiliar design alternatives are displayed, and the familiar ones are analyzed and systematize.

Content of the course
The entire computer systems are of concern, but in a detail that diminishes as one goes outward from the central processing unit. The opposing esthetic principles characterizing good computer architecture. Machine language. Machine addressing. Data representation in terms of abstract datatypes. Domains and ranges of representation transformations. Sequencing operations as high-level control structures. Supervisory functions. I/O operations. Rules of good practice. RISC versus CISC. Mainframe. Case studies of computer systems.
