Course objectives
Course provides basic understanding o fpost-graduate studies and scientific and applied research. After the course students are able to find a research problem, review literature, and prepare an initial plan for post-graduate studies and research. Furthermore, students will have basic knowledge on research methods.
Content of the course
Structure of post-graduate studies, research methods, review of literature, discovering new knowledge, scientific publications, progress and graduation, dissertation, introduction to research in Dept. of IT.

Activee participation in lectures and approved exercises.

Notes
The course is organized by the Department of Information Technology and is compulsory for post-graduate students in Signal Processing. Students applying for the post-graduate program should take this course no later than during the first year of their post-graduate studies. The students can be officially accepted to the program only after passing this course (no later than one year after applying). The course is also recommended for MSc students aiming at working in R&D projects in industry.
