Course objectives
To develop the basic Analog Circuits Designer skills to Implement and Measure Basic Communication Circuits like Low-Noise Amplifiers, Mixers, Voltage-Controlled-Oscillators (VCOs), Power Amplifiers and Sampling A/D units. The course is of essential importance for Communications Circuits Design, which is further continued by: 8307030 CCM, 8307040 Seminar-I, 8307050 RF-ASIC, and 8307060 Seminar-II.
Content of the course
Essentials of the Design, Implementation and Measurements of Low-Noise Amplifiers, Voltage Controlled Oscillators, Power Amplifiers and High-Speed Samplers. High-Frequency/Speed Measurements mostly by Spectrum Analyzer and Oscilloscope, and their Automation by HP-VEE(GPIB) Software and Hardware.
Requirements
Successful completion of the Theoretical and Laboratory Exercises and written examination.
Literature
Selected chapters from: Hambley A.R., Electronics, Second edition, Prentice-Hall, 2000, ISBN 0-13-691982-0. Manuals for PSpice, Spectrum Analyzer, Oscilloscope, HP-VEE(GPIB).
