Course objectives
Special course on principles and techniques utilized in receivers for digital transmission systems.
Content of the course
Superheterodyne and direct conversion principles. System calculations: noise figure, sensitivity, intermodulation distortion, etc. Frequency synthesis techniques. Sampling and digital signal processing in receiver front-ends. Carrier and timing recovery with special emphasis on all-digital techniques. Requirements and non-idealities in different blocks. A little bit about transmitters, too.

Project work and final examination.
