Objectives
To familiarize the student with earth construction materials and earth construction works related to house construction and municipal structures.

1. Earth construction materials and their technical properties.        
2. Earth cuttings, earth and rockfill embankments, compaction works and special requirements set by winter conditions.        
3. Earthworks related to construction of pipe lines and house construction. Drainage of earth constructions and controlling of frost action.        
4. Earth construction equipment and planning of earth construction works.       

Requirements for completing the course
Accepted design assignments. A written exam.

Evaluation criteria for the course

  • Exam 75 % and design assignments 25 %.
