Objectives
To give fundamentals of radiation physics, diagnostic and therapeutic use of radiation, and readiness for radiation protection in medicine.

Content

1. Basis of radiation physics: x-ray physics and nuclear physics, radiation sources, radiation units, dosimetry.        
2. Interaction mechanisms of radiation with material. Biological effects of radiation.       
3. Use of radion in diagnostic radiography, nuclear medicine and radiotion therapy. Use of radiation in industry.       
4. Principles of radiation protection in medicine.       
5. Non-ionising radiation.       

Requirements for completing the course
Active participation in lectures, exercises (20 %) and final exam based on lectures and text material (80 %).
