Objectives
The objective of the course is to go deeper into the world of scientific writing ¿ and of written reports in general. The students will learn the basic data gathering methods used in management science and will learn to apply those in their own work. Furthermore, the students will learn a more analytical and critical perspective to information gathering and writing, which should help students when writing their Masters Thesis. Similar to the previous course (TETA-7017), the students will write about 15-page report of selected topic related to Industrial Engineering and Management, which will also be presented to the seminar group. However, whereas the interest in previous course was on the formalities of scientific research and research reports in general, in this course, the emphasis is also on the development of professional expertise in chosen research topic. Thus, at this point, students should have some understanding on potential topic for Masters Thesis and they should use the seminar paper as an opportunity to develop their knowledge and thinking in that particular area. Therefore, a potential supervisor of Masters Thesis (one of the professors of the department) is available for some consultation. In addition, English teacher will give some personal feedback on the language.
