Objectives
During the course students will be introduced to the basics of Finnish. Students will learn how to pronounce Finnish. They will be familiar with the vocabulary and phraseology needed in everyday situations.

Content

1. Speaking: pronunciation, communicating in everyday situations using simple expressions.       
2. Listening: students will recognise the sounds and understand simple everyday phrases.       
3. Reading: students will be able to read simple texts on familiar topics.       
4. Vocabulary: greetings and everyday phrases, foods and drinks, time, family.       
5. Grammar: the most common endings will be introduced.       

Requirements for completing the course
Active participation in lectures (75 % attendance) and successful performance in the final examination.
