Objectives
To familiarize the student with the geotechnical engineering, design and construction of foundation engineering structures.

Content

1. Contents of foundation engineering.        
2. Shallow foundations, especially raft foundations, and pile foundations, especially large diameter and special piles.        
3. Drainage and frost protection.       
4. Deep excavations. Foundations for harbour structures. Basics of geodynamics. Machine foundations.       

Requirements for completing the course
Accepted design assignments and a written exam.

Evaluation criteria for the course

  • Exam 66 % and project assignment 34 %.
