Objectives
Student knows the basic concepts of Strength of Materials and is able to analyse simple structures. More over student knows the fundamentals of fatique analysis.

1. Basic concepts of Strength of Materials. The stress-strain relation of linearly elastic material. Axial tension or compression of a straight bar, shear and bending of a straight beam. Deflection of a beam. Torsion of a bar. Buckling of a compressed bar. General state of stress and strain at material points of a body. Fundamentals of fatique analysis.       

Requirements for completing the course
Approved exercises and individual works. Two intermediate exams or a written examination.

Evaluation criteria for the course

  • Passed final written examination or written intermediate examinations and accepted exercises.
