Objectives
To give a general knowledge of different branches of Mechanics of Materials and to give the art of discussing the possibilities of materials and structures.

1. State of stress and strain. Basic equations of linear elasticity theory. Constitutive relations of different materials. Introduction to finite element method. Introduction to plates and shells. Yield conditions for beams. Energy principles. Viscoelasticity. Introduction to fracture mechanics. Ceramic and composite structures.

Exercises, team work and a written examination.
