Objectives
The objective of this course is to give students an overview of the operations environment and its management. Lectures will cover a number of components which constitute the operations environment, while simultaneously providing a forum for students to discuss and share their own views and experiences. Group assignments as well as a field excursion are intended to supplement the students￿ learning through a practical perspective. At the completion of the course students should be able to combine these various aspects and formulate appropriate management of operations, to meet the strategic objectives of businesses.

1. The lecture series begin with an introduction to the world of operations management, its role inside the business, and the strategic objectives it tries to fulfill.        
2. Design of systems is a key element of operations management and is consequently devoted several lectures. Topics covered include; product and service design, location and capacity design, process and layout design, and work design.        
3. The remaining lectures focus on several management topics, including; supply chain management, inventory management, and project management.       

Requirements for completing the course
- Passing grade for exam, based on lectures and literature. - Passing grade for written assignments and group presentation.
