Objectives

The aim of the course is to give good theoretical and practical knowledge on processing polymers to functional fibres with special properties, and the applications of these fibres.

Content

Content Core content Complementary knowledge Specialist knowledge
1. The functional and structural properties and manufacture of high performance fibres compared with usual fibres. Polyblend fibre examples, conductive fibres and other polyblend applications. Degradation, stabilization and lifetime prediction of fibre polymers. Anisotropic polymers and liquid crystalline polymers in fibre processing. Regenerated cellulosics, polyolefines, polyesters, aromatic and carbon fibres and their special manufacturing processes. Production of ultra-fine fibres and their applications, surface characteristics of fibres and modification.
