Requirements

Approved research paper, case presentation and exam. Each student is expected to write a research paper and give an oral presentation at the course seminar. The paper will be personally commented on by the lecturer. Teams of students will analyze national strategies of selected countries for upgrading their textile and fashion industries. Cases are presented during lectures. Evaluation for the grade will be based 60% on exam, 30% on research paper and 10% on paper presentation.
Completion parts must belong to the same implementation

Objectives

The student will understand what role of textiles play in global economy and what is the role of the private sector and public sector in the global textile economy. Various regulations and international organizations in connection with globalization are discussed.

Content

1. Global trade and manufacturing of textiles and fashion products and their impact on national economies. How globally operating companies function. Strategies of developing countries for upgrading will be analyzed within case studies.
