Objectives

After the course you will know the planning process stages of a medical device from an idea to a final product. You will perform the literature review which includes patent and market surveys and a survey of requirements for the application and the biomaterial. You will review also scientific articles and use different databases. You will set up with your team the schedule, work flow and budget for the project. Your team will present the project as written document and orally in seminars. You will have feedback from your final oral presentation. The course is done as team work.

2. Going through the stages from an idea to the final product: designing the device     
3. Literature review: patent survey, marketing survey, setting up the requirements of the application, properties of the biomaterial and components of the device     
4. Setting up the schedule, work flow and budget for the project      
5. Written and oral presentations of the work stages     


Evaluation criteria for the course

Written reports and final reports (oral and written) determine the grade.

Assessment scale:

Numerical evaluation scale (1-5) will be used on the course

Partial passing:

Completion parts must belong to the same implementation
