To study a subject ( When cultures collide ) in English. To come into a deeper understanding of other cultures, how different cultures behave and react in differing situations. How attitudes to time can change from culture to culture. Why are people from other countries always different and WE are so normal?? What's going to happen when I end up working with a colleague from another country? These points will be studied as objectives of the course. Common European Framework of Reference, Level B2.

1. | Categorising cultures. Linear-active, multi-active, reactive culture: what are they and how does their behaviour differ from each other? | ||
2. | The use of time. How attitudes to time differ from culture to culture. | ||
3. | Manners and mannerism. Table manners, protocol, customs, small talk, personal space, TABOOS. | ||
4. | Getting to know each other. English speaking countries. Europe, east and west. Nordic countries. FINLAND - the country and the people, who are they and what do they do? Study of a selected country, students' own choice. | ||
5. | Other countries will be studied, eg. Turkey, Iran, Latin America, China, Malaysia, Thailand, if time allows. |
