Requirements

Active participation, regular attendance (75%) and giving an oral presentation; end examination.

Learning outcomes

To activate and develop both written and spoken skills in English. Texts from the field of electrical engineering (as well as from other areas of life) will be dealt with from different perspectives. Oral presentation.

1. To revise the main grammatical features e.g. active and passive forms, conditional forms, the use of articles and prepositions, word formation.  To produce grammatically good language (most common collocations, more preposition) and to use the most common prefixes and suffixes of one's own field.  To learn to use different stylistic features and indirect speech. 
2. To learn the basic vocabulary for work life, writing a letter of application and a CV.  To learn to communicate in different areas of work life, to be able to submit a good letter of application and a CV.  To be able to differentiate cultural differences in language. 
3. To develop oral skills and presentations.   To develop the oral skills further, to become more competent with this skill in different situations.  To be able to distinguish cultural differences in different areas of life. 
4.   To be able to get along well in the Anglo-Saxon culture, to know the most common, every-day, idiomatic and colloquial phrases.  To feel, so to say, at ease with the English language.
