Learning outcomes
After the course the student can recognize most common hazardous chemicals, their properties and environmental effects. The student can name most common sources of pollution and explain the characteristics of air, water and soil as pollution pathways. The student can explain how chemicals affect organisms and how these effects can be studied. The student can also apply his knowledge and perform an environmental risk assessment for a source of pollution.

Evaluation criteria for the course
The grade consists of the final exam (50%), weekly assignments (25%) and a short paper assignment (25%). Grade 1 = Satisfactory knowledge of the learning outcomes Grade 2 = Very satisfactory knowledge of the learning outcomes Grade 3 = Satisfactory application of the course core content Grade 4 = Knowledge of course complementary knowledge and good application of course core content Grade 5 = Good application of core and complementary knowledge of the course
