Learning outcomes

After passing the course the student can name the unit operations used in water and waste water treatment and explain their operational principles. The student can choose the needed operations based on the water characteristics. The student can plan, size, use and develop the unit operations covered.

Content

Content Core content Complementary knowledge Specialist knowledge
1. Physical and chemical unit operations (screening, precipitation, flotation, sedimentation, filtration, oxidation, ion exhange, membrane techniques, disinfection)  Sizing and development of unit operations
2. Water treatment, artificial ground water  Water treatment in small units
3. Waste water treatment. Sludge formation and treatment.  Waste water components and sludge disposal. Waster water treatment in small units.
4. Ground water decontamination  Soil treatment
