Requirements
Passing the examination. The exam will be based on the course book and calculation excercises.
Principles and baselines related to teaching and learning
The course contents are delivered to the students through three different methods: (1) Independent study: the course text book, which students study independently, forms the basic body of knowledge. Students are, through independent study, expected to master the book. Supplements and cases support the learning, but are not expected in the examination. (2) Lectures: the contents of the course book are enhanced in two ways during the lectures: the most important contents are emphasised, and some issues which receive little attention in the course book are elaborated further. The lectures should therefore provide the students with an overall understanding of the basics as well as further insights into the material. Attendance is not required. (3) Exercises: Calculations and other tools are put into practise through guided exercises.
Learning outcomes
After completing this course you will acquainted with the scope of operations management of an industrial enterprise. You will understand key concepts of operations management and operations system design. You can solve classroom versions of operations management problems. At the completion of the course students should be able to combine these various aspects and formulate appropriate design and management of operations, to meet the strategic objectives of businesses.
