Learning outcomes

The student can: -explain and define the fundamental terms, concepts and theories of risk and risk management -identify and categorise risks associated with enterprises, production, products and services -estimate the severity, the probability and the variance of the risks -evaluate the meaning and of the importance of the risks -make conclusions about the tolerability or the acceptability of the risks -explain the most common approaches to manage the risks -plan and implement the enterprise risk management system (ERM) -explain the role of risk management in the enterprise management.

1. Concepts of threat, opportunity, risk, uncertainty, risk assessment and risk management. Strategic and operative risks. Static and dynamic risks. Subjective and objective risks.     
2. Enterprise risk management (ERM) and different types of risks (business risks, financial risks, project risks, health- and safety risks, environmental risks, etc.)     
3. Risk analysis methods (vulnerability analysis, various methods for risk estimation and evaluation, decision-tree analysis, SWOT, Monte-Carlo simulation, etc.)     
4. Integrating risk management into daily management procedures.
