Learning outcomes
After passing this course, the student knows the principles of transportation systems planning. The student can analyse different transport systems in case cities or areas. The student can report and present the results of a scientific work.
Content
Content | Core content | Complementary knowledge | Specialist knowledge |
1. | Demand and supply in transport. Transport needs and the characteristics of different transport modes. | The amount of traffic, development in history and in different areas
2. | Traffic safety and the environmental effects of transport.
3. | The main principles of transport systems planning | The transport system in Helsinki region |
Evaluation criteria for the course
The course grade is given based on the overall work considering the case city analysis (written report, presentation of the work). Good knowledge in transport system planning and especially in the case city gives the grade 3. Grades 4 and 5 are possible if the knowledge as well as reporting and presentation are excellent.
Assessment scale:
Numerical evaluation scale (1-5) will be used on the course
