Requirements

Exercises and exam, 4 cr. Completion of 50% of excercises mandatory. Excercises constitute 20% of the final grade. Optional project/presentation extends course to 5 cr.

Learning outcomes

Understanding the basic principles of optical communications systems: active and passive components, propagation optical fibers, fiber amplifiers, receiver principles, wavelength division multiplexing (WDM), time division multipexing, design of analogue and digital point-to-point links.
