Description:
Instructors: Jaakko Astola and Radomir Stankovic Topic: Algebraic methods for discrete devices and systems The course consists of lectures by the instructors, seminar presentations by the participants as well as homework, and project work for those wishing to go deeper into a particular topic.

Course starts on week 10 (March 7-March 13) and continues to the end of period IV with one or two Lectures/meetings per week. The time and place of first meeting will be announced by the end of January Contents: The following topics will be considered, the principles in lectures and more extensively in presentations and possible projects. Review of finite groups, rings and fields. Nonbinary codes, Fourier transform, Group actions, group representations. Concept of equivalence for discrete functions, nonbinary bent functions, Fourier transforms over non-abelian groups, multiple valued logic networks with regular structures. Projective and affine spaces, rational functions on curves, principles of AG-codes.
