Learning outcomes
After completing the course the student should have an overview of the basics of the structure and functioning of the human visual system including anatomy, physiology, optics, signal processing, practical eye examination methods, and pathologies.
Content
Content | Core content | Complementary knowledge | Specialist knowledge |
1. | Anatomy and physiology of the human visual systm. | Neural signal processing in the human visual system
2. | Optics of the eye. | Refractive errors and their correction.
3. | Performance of the human visual system. | Factors affecting visual acuity and limiting factors to the visual acuity
4. | Eye evaluation methods and common eye pathologies |
Evaluation criteria for the course
For 4 cr.: The final exam will be graded from 0-5, approximately half of the points are required for passing the course. For 5 cr.: The final exam will be assessed as above. The oral presentation (prepared individually or in pairs) will contribute -1, 0, or +1 to the overall grade of the course.
