Content
Content | Core content | Complementary knowledge | Specialist knowledge |
1. | The goal of the VPN assignment is to provide basic operation of the IPSEC: the exchange of keys and encryption of the transmission. | How to construct different VPN-connections
2. | A package of NAT, DHCP and DNS related assignments shows how these protocols and systems are utilised in the construction of a basic networking environment.
3. | The WLAN assignment gives the student an introduction to Wireless LAN standard (IEEE 802.11b), and its configuration. In addition, Ethereal protocol analyzer and Network Stumbler -software are utilised in this assignment. | The familiar the usage of Windows, Unix, and Ethereal are, the faster the laboratory sessions.
4. | The goal of the BGP-task is to provide a deeper idea how BGP works in practice. The material contains the usage of BGP for controlling the incoming traffic in multi-operator enviroment, Communitys, and MED. During the task, a network composed of five routers and four operators, is being configured and different traffic-controlling tests are being applied. | The contracts and operational manners between operators in practical Internet.
5. | The simulation assignments deal with the ns-2 simulator and SDT tool. |
Evaluation criteria for the course
