Learning outcomes

After this course student knows the basic forms of heat transfer: conduction, convection and radiation. He or she can define the equations and boundary conditions and solution methods needed in the heat transfer problem. During the course student can learn to solve heat transfer problems mainly using analytical methods. In the exercise work also difference method will be used to solve temperature distribution.

1. Basic forms of heat transfer (conduction, convection and radiation).     
2. Differential equations, boundary conditions and general solution methods for heat transfer.  Thermal circuits in the solution of stationary problems and difference method in numerical solutions.   
3. Concept and calculation of heat transfer coefficient.     
4. Radiation between surfaces.     
5. Basics of mass transfer.     

Evaluation criteria for the course

Evaluation is based on written examination. Calculation problems and exercise work will give some extra points for examination.

Assessment scale:

Numerical evaluation scale (1-5) will be used on the course

Partial passing:

Completion parts must belong to the same implementation
