Learning outcomes
After passing the course the student will understand theory and methods of biocatalysis and enzymology and their applications in molecular, microbial and environmental studies. He/she will learn basic techniques in the analysis of enzyme kinetics and biotransformations, mechanisms of enzyme induction, repression and de-repression and structure and function of proteins.
Content
Content | Core content | Complementary knowledge | Specialist knowledge |
1. | Outlines of theory of biocatalysis | Theory of biocatalysis
2. | Methods of biocatalysis studies | Complementary knowledge of techniques used in biocatalysis studies
3. | Applications of biotransformation | Industrial scale applications
4. | Structure and function of proteins | Protein folding |
Evaluation criteria for the course
The grade will be determined on the basis of an exam. To pass the course with a grade 1 the student will have to score at least 50 % of the maximum points in the exam. A good understanding the core content will suffice to a grade 3. In order to earn a grade 4 or 5 the student will have to have a good or excellent understanding of complementary knowledge.
Assessment scale:
Numerical evaluation scale (1-5) will be used on the course
