Learning outcomes

- Studies leading to the degree of Master of Science in Technology will provide students with:
- The competence to apply the knowledge acquired during advanced studies and a scientific approach to topical and concrete tasks.
- The competence to operate in different expert, development and management positions in working life.
- The competence to participate in societal debate pertaining to technology.
- The competence to use their language, communication and cooperation skills in working life and to apply them to scientific activities and societal debate.
- After achieving the learning outcomes, students will meet the prerequisites for pursuing a postgraduate degree and continuous learning.

Structure

Common Core Studies, 20 cr

Learning outcomes

- Upon completion of the common studies students are able to comprehend essentials of physical, mathematical, and engineering background of the three majors.
- Students are capable of following key practices of technical writing and scientific working methods and gain adequate language, communication and cooperation skills.
- Students are capable of applying relevant mathematical tools to solve questions related to the field.
- To gain a general insight to common branches of electrical engineering.
- To gain an extensive prerequisite knowledge for pursuing subject studies in the field of student’s major.

Additional information

Basic and common programme studies aim at offering the students a common ground in their studies and orienting them towards other degree modules, which concentrate on more specialized professional skills. These studies ensure that students will have the necessary skills to follow courses in each major. Basic and common studies are partly common to all students in the International Master's Degree Programme in Electrical Engineering and partly defined by the student's major.

Major Studies

Study block Credit points
Radio Frequency Electronics 30 cr
Smart Grids 30 cr
Wireless Communication Circuits and Systems 30 cr

Minor Studies

Study block Credit points
Biomedical Engineering 25 cr
Communication Networks and Programming 28 cr
Digital and Computer Electronics 30 cr
Personal Minor in Electrical Engineering 25 cr
RF ASIC Design 25 cr
Radio Frequency Electronics 25 cr

Elective Studies, 20 cr

Student can freely select the courses according to one's interest as long as minimum of the degree (120 cr.) is done. In optional studies the student can also include courses which cannot be included in any other degree module or prerequisite studies.

Master's Thesis (30 cr)

Learning outcomes

- To carry out and document independently a study using scientific methods.
- To gather systematically knowledge related to the chosen field of specialty, combine different sets of data and analyze information.
- To demonstrate professional skills in the field of the student's major subject.
- To demonstrate maturity required for a university degree.

Additional information

Completion and reporting of an independent scientific assignment. Student gains ability to understand scientific and professional concepts of the major. With the thesis the student demonstrates that he/she knows how to analyze big entities, uses relevant literature, gathers appropriate empirical data, writes research report and deduces relevant conclusions. In connection with the thesis, student has to write a maturity test, which is an essay written on a topic related to the thesis. The test demonstrates the student's command of the thesis topic.

Additional information related to the degree

Student can include TST-1206 Demola Project Work only once in his/her degree.
