Additional information

Compulsory for students majoring in one of the advanced modules provided by the Department of Computer Systems. Number of credits depends on the project size. Course starts in Period 1 with compulsory lectures. A student group can start the actual project implementation later during the academic year, but must attend all lectures and sessions. Active participation to the seminars, at least two seminar presentations, a student project implementation and reporting as group work
Completion parts must belong to the same implementation

Learning outcomes

The student knows how to prepare and carry out a project successfully as a part of a project team and independently. The student is familiar and has experience of the responsibilities of a project manager and a team member. The student can produce project plans and other documentation, and negotiate with different interest groups in project meetings, presentations, etc.

1. Definition of a project and the nature of project work, project organizations, agreements, and project management.     
2. Project work management; planning, status reporting, final reports, continuous management.  Templates for project reports. Project management tools.   
3. Group working, project team establishment, topic negotiations, client meetings.  Official meeting practices.   
4. The technical content of the selected project topic, pre-study on the topic, applying existing tools, implementations, and methods to produce project results.     
5. Disseminating project results, writing project documentation and technical reports, preparing presentations.  Preparing and having good presentations.    

Evaluation criteria for the course

Active participation to seminars, and a successful exercise project are needed to pass the course. Successful exercise project requires mastering the core content of the course. The number of credit points depends on the extent of technical topic, and the workload of project reporting and management.

Evaluation scale passed/failed will be used on the course

Partial passing:

Completion parts must belong to the same implementation
