Description:
The aim of this course is to develop the students’ skills in the visualization of three-dimensional shape of molecules; draw the stereochemistry of molecules; identify symmetry elements in molecules; learn the general tools for the preparation of enantiomerically enriched molecules. Besides a strong focus on stereochemistry, the use of chiral pool, chiral auxiliaries and asymmetric catalysis (organometallic, organocatalysis and biocatalysis) of several important transformations in organic synthesis will be explored.
Person responsible:
Nuno Rafael Candeias
Target groups:
Biomedical Engineering (before 1.8.2014)
Materials Engineering/Material Science
Teknis-luonnontieteellinen
Assessment scale:
Numerical evaluation scale (1-5) will be used on the course
Additional information of course implementation:
The course will be equally divided into lectures and exercises classes in Period 3. It will be mandatory for the student to attain at least to 50% of the exercises classes. A seminar will be assigned in the 4th Period.
