Requirements
Course can be done based on literature that will be agreed with the responsible teacher. Course can also be passed with a report that has been agreed with the responsible teacher. This course is for paper converting's post-graduate students only. Kurssi suoritetaan valikoidun kirjallisuuden perusteella, joka sovitaan erikseen vastuuhenkilön kanssa. Learning Outcomes
Students will learn the basics of the extrusion coating process. Students also learn the most common characterisation methods that are used for packaging materials.

1. | Students will be given a short theory on extrusion coating process and the related process parameters will be introduced. Different characterisation methods used for packaging materials will be discussed. | Students will have laboratory works including an extrusion coating trial and several laboratory measurements. Laboratory measurements include barrier (WVTR, OTR), heat sealability and hot tack, adhesion, surface energy and friction measurements. In addition, IR-spectroscopy, DSC measurement and optical microscopy are included | The theory related to different measurements will be introduced. |
Instructions for students on how to achieve the learning outcomes
Students will prepare a scientific report based on the lectures and laboratory works.
